FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How does The Bug Patch protect me from mosquitoes?
Mosquitoes and other pests are attracted to carbon dioxide coming from our bodies. The only active ingredient in The Bug Patch is natural, organic Vitamin B1 (thiamin). With an elevated level of B1 in your system, you begin to emit Vitamin B1 through the pores of your skin. This Vitamin B1 masks the carbon dioxide also being emitted through your pores. While insects may initially be attracted to carbon dioxide from breathing, once they come in for a closer look, they find your skin unappealing. You can actually watch them approach you and fly away. It really is amazing to experience!

Why do mosquito bites itch?
Before a mosquito bites, they inject an anticoagulant to keep your blood from clotting. Your body's immune system fights this foreign fluid, a reaction that causes the area around the bite to swell. This swelling pushes on the nerves beneath the skin, causing the itchy sensation.
Why is my backyard full of mosquitoes?
The most common mistake homeowners make is providing mosquitoes with breeding grounds. Mosquitoes need standing water to breed, so eliminating areas where water is allowed to accumulate is the best thing you can do to reduce the number of mosquitoes in your area. Regularly replacing water in your bird baths and kiddie pools, cleaning your gutters, and filling holes where water tends to gather will go a long way in improving your outdoor experience.
Why do mosquitoes even bite people?
Male mosquitoes aren’t out for blood, but rather it’s the female mosquitoes that leave us with itchy red bumps and a frustration with the outdoors. The reason female mosquitoes bite us is because they need the protein in our blood in order to develop their eggs. You can learn more by visiting our page on Mosquito Facts, Tips and Information.
What are the symptoms of West Nile Virus?
While most people infected with West Nile Virus won't show any symptoms, about 20% of people infected develop West Nile Fever. Symptoms of West Nile Virus include headache, fever, body aches, and a skin rash.
In extreme cases, the virus can develop into West Nile encephalitis or meningitis. In addition to the symptoms of West Nile Fever, an infected person can experience body stiffness, disorientation, muscle weakness, tremors, convulsions, paralysis, even death.
How do mosquitoes detect me?
In order for a mosquito to find a host to feed on, they rely on many tools. They may locate a host by tracking the scent of carbon dioxide and organic substances produced by humans. Visual recognition also plays a role; however, mosquitoes are known to have poor sight. Once in range by scent tracking, mosquitoes configure an up-close image or visual outline, of what they assume to be a source, and then go ahead and bite hoping for results.
What effects will The Bug Patch have on my body?
Unlike the side-effects of most products, because of its use Vitamin B1, The Bug Patch's side-effects are beneficial for the body. According to WebMD, Vitamin B1 will boost your immune system, improve athletic performance, help maintain a positive mental attitude, increase learning abilities, fight stress, and prevent memory loss. Also, if you forget to use The Bug Patch and get bitten, applying one after the fact is still beneficial -- Vitamin B1 is an antihistamine and will reduce the allergic reaction associated with a bite.
Why Can't I just take a normal Vitamin B1 supplement?
A daily B1 Vitamin pill or liquid dosage is water soluble, which would result in the excess of it being flushed out through the urinary tract. This would have no effect against bugs since the build-up is not released through the skin. Vitamin B1 in The Bug Patch, on the other hand, is absorbed straight into the blood-stream. As a result, the excess Vitamin B1 is emitted through the pores of your skin giving you total body protection.
